A Handy Guide
A very simple format and layout makes this a very easy guide to use. Adding your site is relatively straightforward and can be done with relatively little effort. Find the category you would like you site added to and submit from within there.
Acclaim Search Engine
Limited to the United States, this is one of the locations that you add your link to for the sole purpose of increasing your popularity with the larger engines. The format is too simplified to be of much else of use. Simply add your site to your home state.
Ad Net Classifieds
This is an extremely interesting effort... especially for Real Estate Professionals. Here you can add your product, house or service into their classifieds. Much the same as a newpaper in the format, your ad expires after a set time period but you are free to return to relist.
Aeiwi
Good overall directory of sites. Simple to add a link with relatively quick postings of sites. Aeiwi relies on Meta Tags within your site for searches. Addresses and URLs must be put in exactly correctly including upper and lowercase letters.
Ah-ha.com
This is a sort of hybrid site which offers free listings but also charges for position on a bid system. Posting is fast. At this point check out what search terms you want to be found for. If the bid amount is low you may not need to buy in until the category page is full of bidders!
Allysubmit
A simple site to use, Allysubmit makes adding your URL very easy. Use your description and keywords to get your site a good search position.
Altavista
One of the top 5 search engines to be listed in with absolutely no doubt. Sites are added quickly and since they use a spider you only have to submit your homepage. Be cautious not to spam as you may find a good listing dropped. Once you have a good position DO NOT fool with it to improve it more... you may find your site dropped another 20 pages.
America OnLine
AOL is using the DMOZ (Open Directory) information to provide links.
